Brief Introduction
Ihan Batak is a team sent by Amati Indonesia to do an independent study in the Toba Region. This team consists of 5 people from different universities and different majors.
Ihan’s team is a part of AMATI in MSIB (Magang dan Studi Independen Bersertifikat) Program under the support and coordination of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. This team is directed to carry out a project in the Lake Toba area of Samosir Regency to develop the tourism sector, especially Ecotourism with a designated partner, Silimalombu Ecovillage.
What is Ecotourism?
Acording to the International Ecotourism Society, Ecotourism or “Ekowisata” is defined as “responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment, sustains the well-being of the local people, and involves interpretation and education” (TIES, 2015).
