Yoga Program
The Living Caldera
Exploring body-mind, nature and creative expression. The opening program of the Yoga Center Silimalombu follows the geological story of Lake Toba and Samosir Island – fire, air, water and earth – through yoga, somatic work and art.
Facilitators
The sessions form a connected arc, but each one can be attended on its own – join whenever it suits your schedule.
The 7-day cycle
Arriving in Living Nature
Everything here is alive, interconnected, and becoming.
Yoga: Arriving in the body – gentle mobility, barefoot practice, orientation through the senses, intention-setting circle.
Art: Mapping our arrival – a personal visual journal: where have I come from, what am I bringing, what do I hope to discover?
Fire
The force that creates worlds also lives within us.
Yoga: Igniting the inner fire – strong standing sequence, core work, breath of fire.
Art: What wants to emerge? Large expressive painting with charcoal and red pigments.
Air
After eruption comes release.
Yoga: Breathing into space – slow flow, long exhalations, pranayama.
Body: Letting go – Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE®), followed by a gentle handpan meditation.
Water
Water enters the lake.
Yoga: Moving like water – fluid transitions and deep listening by the lake.
Art: Emotional landscapes – watercolour and soft pastels: what is moving through me?
Earth
The island emerges.
Yoga: Rooting down – balance, grounding, breathwork.
Nature art: Belonging – artwork from earth and plant materials, guided drumming with found objects: what supports me, where do I belong?
Rest Day
Swimming in the lake, a silent morning walk or dawn meditation.
Seeing the Whole
The mountain, lake, sky and island are not separate.
Yoga: The elements practice – fire, air, water and earth in one sequence.
Closing celebration: a collective installation from natural objects, a sound journey through the story of Lake Toba, sharing and a closing ritual.
